Early History of Pavoskas
Pavoskas was founded in the late 90's by Steve and Shelley Cooper.
Shelley has been involved in the show ring for 30+ years owning and breeding Samoyeds and Rough Collies under the Samhaven affix. Following a separation of interest the affix was fully taken over by her kennel partner and is still a large recognised kennel of today. After a break from the show ring for a few years, Steve and Shelley decided to start again with Samoyeds and welcomed Dream to the family home, following that Pavoskas was born.
Following Dream came Cloud, Lola and Autumn. Autumn was a Rough Collie and was owned by daughter Sammy.
At the time Sammy was 10 years old and took an interest in Junior Handling, competing with Autumn and they were a successful team.
Finnish Lapphunds join Pavoskas
Shelley had started to look at other breeds as the Samoyed type had moved away from the type she loved, and then discovered the Finnish Lapphund. After a short wait we welcomed Taru to the family.
Following Taru came Apina, then Taru's son Kippis. In 2009 Steve and Shelley welcomed the first Pavoskas Finnish Lapphund litter. Two male puppies from Apina and Kippis. In 2010 Sammy went to work in a very well known Lapphund Kennel in Denmark. She came back full of enthusiasm for the breed and had started to develop a pedigree interest of certain lines.
In 2012 we decided to breed from Apina again, and we found a male using the lines Sammy had grown to love in Denmark. this mating provided us with 4 little girls.
In 2013 after the sad event of her owner and breeders death 16 month old Mocha came to join us at Pavoskas, to be Sammy's first Lapphund co-owned with Steve and Shelley. At this point we decided to add Sammy to the Pavoskas affix. Sammy campaigned Mocha in Barbara's memory and was delighted to be awarded with her Junior Warrant. Shortly following this, Sammy moved to Swindon with Partner Piers and Mocha moved to joined their family, Mocha then picked up a few Reserve CC's and her show certificate of merit. Sammy and Piers also welcomed future junior Handler Evie to the family.
Sammy decided to mate Mocha in 2015, born from this litter were 5 stunning males, one of which Arttu went back to join Steve and Shelley in Devon. He is Handled both by Shelley and Sammy and so far has picked up his JW, ShCM, 2 CC's & 2RCC's. In 2016 we welcomed a singleton pup Bandit to the Pavoskas family.
Bandit holds a special place in our hearts as hes the first 2nd generation Pavoskas pup, hes currently campaigned in the show ring by Sammy and has had a lovely start to his puppy career and has just won BPIB at crufts and RBPIS at the club show.
Also in 2016, Sammy was delighted to pick up three CC's with Mocha, making her up to become the UK's first brown champion and first bitch to hold all three show ring titles. A fantastic achievement and in memory of her breeder Barbara.
In 2017, Sammy and Piers got married. moving Sammy away from the Cooper name, to her married name of Critchlow. Piers was added to the Affix and now plays an active roll with Sammy. in June of 2017 Sammy seized the opportunity to use a long admired male, Shacal Tiltaltti. 5 fantastic puppies where born, finally giving us our fixed mixed sex litter. 4 girls and 1 boy.
